Kentucky Gambling Bill Advances

Represents a major gambling expansion

The Kentucky State legislature’s Licensing, Occupations and Administrative Regulations Committee overwhelmingly voted in favour of House Bill 175 allowing terrestrial and mobile sports betting, fantasy sports and online poker within State lines.

Geolocation monitoring, in-person registering and app download at terrestrial venues, a 9.75 percent terrestrial tax rate, and a 14.25 percent online tax rate are proposed in the bill.

Tax revenues, conservatively estimated at $ 20 million per annum would primarily be allocated to the state’s public pension systems.

The bill would require a minimum 60 votes in the 100-seat House of Representatives to pass.
